Always been Here
Since 1939, Crown Royal has been part of generations of Canadian life. For ‘Always Been Here’, we partnered with Studio Feather and Spy Films to bring that legacy to life, crafting a seamless CG journey through decades of homes, celebrations and everyday moments, with the iconic bottle serving as the one constant.
The result is a richly detailed film made possible by an enormous library of custom CG assets and textures, proving that sometimes the most powerful storytelling happens in the details.
A Legacy ofCraftsmanship
The Crown Royal bottle has evolved over the decades, but its identity has remained unmistakable. We recreated the bottle, cap, label and signature bag across three featured eras of 1959, 1979 and 2026, capturing the subtle design changes that defined each period.
Every detail was carefully researched to honour the heritage of an icon that has remained a fixture in Canadian homes for generations.
Digital To Analog
The finished film was printed across multiple analog formats, including 8mm, 16mm, 35mm, BETA and VHS. Each medium contributed its own grain, colour response, flicker and imperfections, creating qualities that can't be authentically replicated in a purely digital workflow.
The result is a film that feels less like a digital recreation of the past and more like a nostalgic moment captured in time, through an organic warmth and texture that echoed the timeless nature of the story.

Together, they create a visual archive that celebrates not only the history of an iconic Canadian brand, but the homes, moments and memories it has quietly been part of for generations.
Custom MAde
More than 500 bespoke props and environmental assets were created for the film, each custom modeled and surfaced to reflect its era.
Every object was individually layered with signs of age, wear and everyday use, helping in the creation of richly detailed environments that feel authentic, lived-in and unmistakably Canadian.
